Kisoon grew up thinking she would never become a mage. Although she was naturally gifted at magic, her talents were often overlooked because she was Deaf and couldn’t perform spoken spells like other magic users. But despite the disapproval from her mother and the lack of resources navigating the world as a Deaf person, she was finally starting college majoring in combat magic. There, Kisoon runs into Darcy, a friend she hasn’t seen in years. Not since Darcy’s twin sister, Amanda, went missing. They reconnect, and with it comes a whole lot of complicated feelings over the time they spent apart. In a way, Kisoon feels like fate has handed her the beginning of a long journey because on the same day she sees her childhood friend, a mysterious sentient robot named Tteok shows up at her door, claiming to be her personal guide and interpreter. Tteok says Kisoon has a mission to complete and will not specify anything further. What a way to start the semester.
